Your small change can make a big difference.
Planting trees is one of the most simple and effective ways to combat climate change.
One tree over the course of its life will take approximately one ton of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
Trees and forests also play vital roles in providing habitat for native species, preventing soil degradation and can provide income for local communities.
At Help the Planet we are proud of our Trees for Change project. We partner with a number of major tree planting and environmental organizations, both locally and internationally, to plant trees that help both the environment and local communities. Some of our partners include Landcare and PrimaKlima. To find out more about some of the projects we are involved with please see below:

We are proud to have Junior Landcare as our Australian tree planting partner.
Through their volunteers' network spread across 4,000 community Landcare groups and 2,000 Coastcare groups nationwide the Landcare movement is changing our world – caring for farmlands, rehabilitating rivers, protecting wildlife … and planting a lot of trees.
Youth involvement is a vital part of Landcare – it is Junior Landcarers that will carry the torch of the Landcare spirit into the future. Through its programs and encouraging the concept of outdoor ‘living classrooms' Junior Landcare supports young people in connecting with their environment and developing a sense of responsibility towards the land.
In one example, St Francis Xavier College in Ballarat noticed that banks around the school oval were quite bare and suffering from erosion. With help from the Landcare group they researched appropriate trees shrubs and grasses for the landscape and the native wildlife. They then got 324 students from the school involved in planting a mixture of 500 native plants, watering each plant as they grew and mulching with used newspaper to retain moisture.
Once established, as well as attracting wildlife back to the school and offering shade, the plantings then formed part of the schools ‘Harmony Dreaming' journey, in which students learn about indigenous vegetation and plants that are important in Aboriginal culture.

Reforestation in the Democratic Republic of Congo
In cooperation with the "Comité Pour le Dèveloppement Integre en Milieux Rural" (CODIMIR) we are contributing to a reforestation project in Burhinyi, South-Kivu, a deforested region 70 km southwest of Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The objective of the project is to plant 1 million trees between 2004 -2007. Within the framework of this project, Prima Klima together with the Verein Dialog International have planted 897,400 trees. The planting covers a total area of 700 ha (7,000,000 m2), and includes 40 different species of trees. It is estimated that the total carbon absorbtion of the project is approximately 3500 tonnes per year.
The further benefits of the project to the local community and the environment include:
The combating of soil erosion.
Increased employment in rural areas.
Improvement in the local food situation due to the planting of fruit trees.
Enhanced environmental awareness.
Improvements to local schooling, training and education.
